I wasn't really expecting these to be much different than the name brand batteries and it turns out they are really great! To do a thorough and scientific comparison I constructed a de-charging rig that consisted of a 5 ohm equivalent resistance and an analog to digital converter. I discharged the batteries at a rate of approximately 0.25 watts (the rate did vary some with discharge state). I collected 5 voltage readings across the test rig per second and averaged those down to 1 reading/second to reduce variability. I've attached the results as customer images, but the rundown is this:

Eneloop Batteries, 2000mAh (slightly used through <10 discharge cycles)
Battery 1 - Capacity 1928 mAh
Battery 2 - Capacity 1966 mAh

Amazon Batteries, 2000mAh (<3 discharge cycles, new)
Battery 1 - Capacity 2016 mAh
Battery 2 - Capacity 2006 mAh

Overall these batteries seem to be nearly identical in their discharge behavior and capacity to that of the name brand with about $0.25 price difference at the time of this review. I'll be buying these for sure and possibly updating after several hundred charge cycles.

purchased Tenergy Centura AA Low Self-Discharge (LSD) NiMH Rechargeable Batteries, 1 Card 4xAA. These batteries are doing great for my first month using them. 

I use them in my Sony portable CD player to listen to books and they are much better than the Energizer Rechargeable batteries that I had been using. Plus they have held their charge longer than the Energizers. 

I guess the LSD[Low Self Discharge]is responsible for this. I, also, purchased the [Tenergy Centura AAA Low Self-Discharge (LSD) NiMH Rechargeable Batteries, 6 Cards 24xAAAfor my MP3 Player and use 1 battery in it (again listening to books)and 3 in my books light. They are doing better than expected. 

The AAA is holding it's charge very well...changing the battery every 24-26 hours of play for the MP3 player and changed it out after 6 nights in the books light (which I am using as a portable night light while staying with my daughter and new baby). 

I could have gotten more time out of the book light, however, the light was starting to get a little dim and I chose to change it out rather than see exactly how long it would take to wear it down completely. I am EXTREMELY satisfied with these products, especially since I read such poor reviews on the regular Tenergy batteries. The Centura has exceeded my expectations and the price made it well worth it. 

With that being said, I have only had these batteries for a month or so and can't comment on the long term wear of them.

THE QUICK TAKE: The AmazonBasics High Capacity AA Rechargeable batteries are a nice product, but that comes at a higher price (at current pricing). Unless you need the extra capacity of a 2400 mAh battery, you may want to get the regular 2000 mAh Eneloop or AmazonBasics batteries at a lower price. Similarly, if you don't need to store them before using them, conventional rechargeables will do the job.

The product description on the Amazon product page has a good summary, if you're not familiar with the advantages of "pre-charged" or "low-self discharge" batteries. This is a somewhat new technology, available in the last 10 years or so; the batteries are slow to lose their charge, so they can be sold charged and ready to use; and will hold a charge for some time. It's only relatively recently that higher-capacity versions have been available.

If cost isn't important, and you don't want to have to figure out which battery is which - then sure, stock up on these. But given the cost, most people will want to use these where they are needed.

Appear to last much longer than other battery. But my charge gauge shows no where near the 3100mAH, ranging between 1800-2500 mAH or so.

I read the reviews of this and cannot believe how people actually give this 3 stars or less. I totally get the charge time can make someone a little annoying but I actually didn't have that problem. I charged it at night around 11pm and woke up at 8 and it was fully charged and ready to go. I put these rechargeable batteries in my wireless keyboard and mouse and they have been working for over a week with no issues of loss of charge. It was awesome and I'm so glad to finally get batteries that last such a long time. I've checked the charge hold and it's over 800 mah more than a duracell battery which holds 1500 mah and I was shocked when I saw that. Now, I'm sure over time this may lose some charge but oh well. I totally get that rechargeable batteries lose some life and that's acceptable. So far - so good. No complaints on life.

One small thing that I don't like - and this is very minor - is that you have to charge the batteries in pairs. If you don't have the other battery, it will not charge. Other than that, it's great. I received this item for a honest review and I was happy to give it 5 stars!

These batteries are supposed to be fully charged but they needed several hours on the charger when they arrived.

The next day I tried them in a portable CB and they didn't work.

I charged them again and now they seem fine, holding a charge and running the CB which is high current draw.

I haven't had them long enough to know how long they will last yet.

A few days after I posted this review the company contacted me and asked me to "improve the review because it could impact their business". I said that the review accurately reflected my experience to-date but that if the batteries performed well in the future I may revisit my review. Today they contacted me again and asked me to delete my review saying "if the batteries have problems in the future I could write a new review then".

At the moment the batteries seem to be working but they didn't work properly when they first arrived and now I need to see them continue to work correctly before I will have any confidence in them.

I have now been using these batteries for several weeks. I have used them in a variety of applications such as wireless mics that go through a lot of batteries and the result were good. But then last night I took three batteries and tried to put them into clocks around my house and all the batteries were dead. These were all batteries I had fully charged and stored in a box for a few weeks until I needed them. At this point these batteries have lost my confidence and I will be moving on to a new brand.

With all the pre-charged batteries from different manufacturers out there now, there is no need for 1-time use alkaline batteries anymore.

Using my Lacrosee BC-700 battery charge/test function, the 4 "AA" batteries performed as follows:

Battery 1 = 2,200 mAh
Battery 2 = 2,140 mAh
Battery 3 = 2,170 mAh
Battery 4 = 2,190 mAh

Straight from the box, the batteries show remaining voltages of 1.31V (see pic above). All packs more juice compared to its rated capacity of 2000 mAh, which is comparable to the capacities of Eneloops and Duracell.

I have been using pre-charged batteries for everything now, from toys, digital cameras, clocks, to remote controls.
